Engagement Sessions

Why should you have an Engagement Session?

Engagment Sessions is a time where couples can take a break from the weddng planning process to be together. This gives them the time to reconnect with each other.

As a Wedding and Engagement Photographer, it is my job to ensure that you have a stress-free and relaxed time during your session.

This is time for you as a couple to become comfortable in front of the camera.

Most people are uncomfortable in front of a camera, and this causes them to not know how to relax, how to pose or even how to show emotion.

This Session, gives them the opportunity to warm up, and practice being in front of the camera. It also gives them the chance to get use to the idea of being intimate with each other in the presence of another person.

This couple came to me for a couple’s session. As we were walking to the location, the expressed to me that neither of them have ever had professional pictures taken, not even their senior pictures. As we walked, I explained to them some of the ques I use to get them to open up and feel relaxed.

An Engagement Session helps the Couple get to know me as a photographer

Every photographer is different. We all have different ways of directing our clients. So this session gives them the chance to become comfortable with my process.

Most of my Engagement Sessions last an hour or two, maybe even longer. This gives us the time to interact, socialize and chat with each other.

This also works on the flip side, where it gives me the chance to get to know you as a couple. I get to learn how comfortable you are in front of the camera. I get to learn how he proposed, where he proposed at. I even get the chance to learn how you two met, and the fun little stories of your time together.

All this helps me know how to capture the best moments and interactions on your wedding day.

This man, told me right away that he was not comfortable in front of the camera, but I directed him by giving him different ques like “Draw something with your nose on her check.” By the end of our 2 hour session he posed like a natural.

Documenting the Relationship

Often the stress and tension of planning a wedding gets in the way of capturing the authentic imagery of a couple.

The Engagement Shoot gives a wonderful opportunity to highlight the true personality of the couple, not only as a couple but as individuals also.

During your initial wedding consultation, we will discuss locations for your Engagment Session. We want to pick a location that is a comfortable and meaningful reflection of your personality. This will add a little bit of a personal touch to your session and showcase the true personality of you as a couple.

Uses for Engagement Photos

Many couples will use their engagment photos for Save-the-Date Cards, Guest Books at their wedding, Wedding Websites, or even as decor during their wedding reception.

This gives your guests a chance to know you more intimately.

Quality Time together as a Couple

This as stressed in several other points, is probably one of the most important reasons to have an Engagement Session.

Again as stated previously, this gives you a chance to be playful together and to be yourselves.

This is a welcomed break from the wedding planning for most couples.
